The KJA Consultancy Experience
KJA Consultancy Limited is a forward thinking Structural Engineering company offering a personal and reliable design service. Based in Bromsgrove, on the outskirts of Birmingham, we cover all areas of Worcestershire, Warwickshire and the West Midlands.
The knowledge gained from 20 years as a Structural Engineer within the construction industry, working on both commercial and domestic projects of varying scale and complexity, enables us to provide a full design service for projects of all sizes. Our services include RSJ beam designs for load bearing wall removal, full design calculations & details for domestic renovations, extensions, garage & loft conversions, in addition to large scale multidisciplinary residential developments.
Our involvement can be tailored to suit your requirements, seeing projects all the way from conception, through the planning & building regulations process, to completion.
Our Projects
Double Storey Extension & Refurbishment
Major refurbishment of a large detached property in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. A&D Design were responsible for planning the refurbishment of this spacious contemporary home, featuring new master bedroom with full height apex window, reconfigured bedrooms & bathroom, large open plan kitchen & family room, in addition to external landscaping.

Duo Pitched Roof Rear Extension
Another project successfully completed just in time for Christmas. Transforming a compact kitchen and underused conservatory, into a modern open plan kitchen & family room.
Mono Pitched Roof Rear Extension
Large single storey rear extension with corner bi-fold doors which successfully link the internal & external spaces when fully opened up.
Flat Roof Rear Extension
The clients vision was for a large open plan kitchen & family area. This required the demolition of the existing thermally inefficient conservatory in addition to the removal of the majority of the rear elevation wall, resulting in significant structural support both above & below ground.
Cottage Renovation
Complete renovation of a dilapidated cottage built in the late 19th century. KJA Consultancy were involved from the outset, consulting regularly with the Architect & client to provide the most cost effective solution. The existing structure was stripped back to bare brick, with new timber joists and rafters installed where required. In addition to this, a large double storey extension to the rear of the property will provide a large open plan kitchen diner and master bedroom with vaulted ceilings.
The clients vision was to transform this dated & neglected structure into a home suitable for modern living. This has certainly been achieved, at the same time retaining the charm & quirky features of a traditional cottage property.
Raft Foundation
Whatever your foundation needs, KJA Consultancy can assist no matter what stage of the project. We were able to help out & provide a cost effective solution, after Building Control deemed the original design teams proposals unsuitable for the ground conditions, even though trenches had already been excavated.
It is always preferable to employ a design team who have local knowledge of the area and can be on hand to undertake site inspections when required. KJA Consultancy are proud to offer such a service.
